Unlock PDF opens your protected file with the password you type and saves a copy without encryption. It is meant for your own files: it removes a password you know, it never guesses or cracks one. PDFs that open freely but only restrict printing or copying are left as they are.
How it works
- Drop the protected PDF.
- Type its password.
- Select Unlock PDF and download the copy without a password.
Supported files
Input: one password-protected PDF. Output: the same PDF without encryption.
Up to 400 MB per PDF on a computer, 150 MB on iPhone and iPad. Larger files depend on your device's memory.
When to use it
- Stop typing the password of a bank statement or payslip every time you open it.
- Prepare a protected PDF before merging, compressing or signing it.
- Archive documents in a form any app can open and index.
Quality and limitations
- You need the password: the tool does not crack or bypass it.
- Usage restrictions on PDFs that open without a password are not removed.
- The unlocked copy is no longer protected: store it carefully.
Common issues
- “Wrong password.”
- Passwords are case-sensitive. Check capitals and the keyboard layout, then try again.
- “This PDF has no password.”
- It already opens freely; there is nothing to remove.
Private by design
This tool runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Your file is read and processed on your device and is never uploaded to a server. Closing the tab discards everything.
