How to rotate a PDF and save it

Short answer

Open the free Rotate PDF tool, drop the file, rotate all pages or only the ones that are sideways, then download. The rotation is saved in the PDF, so it opens the right way everywhere.

Rotate PDF

Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Drop a PDF here

or paste with ⌘V · up to 400 MB per file · stays on your device

With the free Nimbo web tool (any device)

  1. Open Rotate PDF and drop your PDF.
  2. Use Rotate all, or the rotate buttons on individual pages.
  3. Download the rotated PDF.

With Preview on a Mac

  1. Open the PDF in Preview and choose View > Thumbnails.
  2. Select the pages, then Tools > Rotate Left or Rotate Right (⌘L / ⌘R).
  3. Choose File > Save.

Tips

  • Rotation is lossless: the page is turned, not redrawn.
  • Scanned a page upside down? Rotate it twice (180°).

Frequently asked questions

Why does my PDF look rotated in one app but not another?

Some viewers rotate the display only. Saving the rotation in the file, as these methods do, fixes it everywhere.

Can I rotate only one page?

Yes. Use the per-page rotate buttons in the tool.

Does rotating reduce quality?

No. Nothing is re-compressed.
